Georgia teen, 15, gunned down while getting off school bus: ‘It’s a senseless act’

A Georgia boy was fatally shot Thursday afternoon while getting off a school bus, police said.

15-year-old Earkavion Lee died about 45 minutes after he was shot in a Columbus neighborhood at around 4:30 p.m.

“There’s something extra wrong about this,” Mayor Skip Henderson said.

“This kid was getting off the school bus where he was supposed to be safe.”

    “It’s a gut punch anytime a violent crime takes place, particularly when somebody loses their life. It’s horrible,” Henderson added.

    “It’s a senseless, senseless act. We’re going to keep working and our law enforcement won’t rest to stop these kinds of things from happening.”

    No arrests were made in connection to the shooting. Police are urging anyone with information to contact them at 706-225-4363.
