Toddler dies after falling into neighbor’s 7-ft deep septic tank

A Washington boy is dead after he fell into his neighbor’s septic tank on Sunday.

The 3-year-old victim, his 4-year-old brother, and a 6-year-old friend were playing in their backyard when tragedy struck.

Pierce County Sgt. Darren Moss Jr. said “an adult was in and out of the house” with the children at the time.

    The other children went back to the home and alerted the grandmother who contacted police at around 2:20 p.m.

    Moss described the tank as 7 feet deep and about 5 feet full. He said firefighters had to pump the tank before pulling out the child’s body, some 45 minutes after he fell into the tank.

    The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. No charges have been filed in connection to the incident.
