Bomb threats sent to ‘multiple agencies and media outlets’ in Springfield, Ohio

Springfield news, Ohio news.

A major police response was triggered in Springfield, Ohio Thursday morning after “multiple agencies and media outlets” received bomb threats via email.

“Our preliminary concern is the safety and well-being of our employees and residents,” said the city commission office.

“We are working to address this situation as swiftly as possible.”

“We ask the community to avoid the area surrounding City Hall vicinity while the investigation is ongoing and to report any suspicious activity to the Springfield Police Division.”

The threats came in the wake of Tuesday’s debate where former President Donald Trump claimed that Haitian migrants were eating Springfield residents’ pets, citing baseless social media rumors.

A City spokesperson told ABC News that the claims were unfounded and there have been “no credible reports or specific claims of pets being harmed, injured or abused by individuals in the immigrant community.”
