Mobile news, Alabama news.

A 31-year-old Alabama woman is accused of stabbing her 33-year-old boyfriend to death in front of his two children last month.

Jennifer Nicole Heathcore’s lawyer and her father insisted she acted in self-defense on the night of August 22 when she stabbed Taylor Rawlins and killed him inside their Charleston Apartments unit.

The man’s 9-year-old daughter called 911 after witnessing the stabbing identifying Heathcore as the killer.

Prosecutors said that Heathcore could be heard in the background instructing the girl to say that “it wasn’t her.”

They considered the act a “consciousness of guilt” and not “justified self-defense” as she claimed.

Rawlins was described as a loving father to his two children with a “vibrant personality, sharp humor, and warm laughter [which] brought comfort and joy to everyone around him.”
