A 4-year-old child was reportedly home when a woman fatally shot and dismembered a man inside their Alabama home last week.
Benito Morales Guzman’s mutilated remains were discovered inside a car behind his home on August 27.
Police believe Joselina Elizabeth Lopez shot him dead before chopping up his body using chainsaws found at the scene.
Prosecutors revealed at a bond hearing that the search Guzman’s body was in 10 to 15 pieces stuffed inside garbage bags when it was found in the backseat and trunk of the car.
Detectives searched the home and car and found a handgun, a hatchet, two knives, and three chainsaws.
The couple’s 4-year-old child, who suffers from autism and birth defects, and several other people were reportedly home when the gruesome crime took place.
Lopez claimed she acted in self-defense when she killed Guzman. She claimed a drug dealer had been threatening her family because Guzman owed them money.
