A Memphis woman was charged this week after authorities said her son brought a loaded gun to school.
Ke’Erinie King, 22, faces charges of child abuse and child neglect or endangerment, carrying a weapon on school property, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Police were called to Getter K-8 School at 4649 Horn Lake Road in Memphis at around 8:40 a.m. Thursday.
A Memphis-Shelby County Schools resource officer flagged down a police officer about a student with a gun on school grounds.
The 6-year-old student was reportedly showing off the loaded gun to his classmates and passing it to them.
A staff member confiscated the weapon and alerted the resource officer.
Police said the weapon was reported stolen but King later admitted the gun belonged to her.
