Pittsburgh news, Pennsylvania news.

A missing Pennsylvania girl has returned to her family in a shocking twist after she was found detained in an adult jail.

The 13-year-old girl went missing on August 2. Police kept looking for her and even released new photos of her on September 1 while she was spending her days in jail.

Beaver County authorities arrested the teen on August 17 for shoplifting with a 25-year-old woman.

The girl reportedly lied to officers giving them a fake name and claiming she was 18.

Beaver County DA Nate Bible said authorities couldn’t identify the girl through fingerprints and even asked for Children Youth Services’ help but to no avail.

On September 3, the girl called a fellow inmate’s friend from jail, identifying herself and asking for help.

The woman notified police that the missing teen was at the Beaver County Jail. She has been reunited with her family.

“For whatever reason, this is someone who didn’t want to go home and preferred jail,” Bible said.
