Lawrence news, Massachusetts news.

Authorities in Massachusetts are expecting murder charges to be filed in the death of a missing mother-of-two whose remains were found Tuesday about 10 miles from her home.

37-year-old Carol Flaz-Burgos left her apartment Saturday to take out the trash and never returned.

Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker described how the disappearance sparked a “full court press” to find the mother of two young children.

“The forensic evidence, the digital evidence that we have, the location of where the body was found have all led us to believe that we expect a murder charge to come within the next couple of days,” he said.

Police arrested Flaz-Burgos’ neighbor Cristian Montero on preliminary charges of witness intimidation and misleading the investigation.

“It is not a murder charge yet. We expect over the next couple of days, when the medical examiner’s office completes their autopsy, that those charges will be upgraded to murder,” Tucker said.
