Boy, 14, killed in crash while fleeing Texas cops

A Texas boy was killed in a crash while running away from police officers late Wednesday.

The 14-year-old led officers on a vehicle chase on Highway 288 in Pearland shortly before 10 p.m.

He then lost control of his car and struck the center concrete barrier, authorities said.

  • The officer lost sight of the teen when he left the wreck and ran away on foot.

    Shortly later, the officers were alerted to a crash in the southbound lanes of Highway 288.

    They later discovered that the boy they were chasing had been hit by a car while running across the southbound lanes.

    The teen died at Ben Taub Hospital despite all efforts to save his life.
