A tragic murder-suicide rocked Nassau County, Long Island Sunday when a man killed four family members before turning the gun on himself.
The incident took place at Teresa Martha DeLucia's home just three days after her funeral.
Real estate agent Mary Macaluso said the elderly woman’s children were set to meet her to discuss selling the home before the tragedy.
“[One of the children] had asked me to come and meet with them to give an idea of what they should do with the house before they list it and everything,” Macaluso said.
But as she arrived for the meeting at around 12:30 p.m., she encountered police cruisers blocking the street.
Police said the perpetrator, Joseph DeLucia Jr., 59, was found “outside the home” with “an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
“Further investigation revealed that four other victims were also discovered inside the residence deceased.”
Nassau County authorities later revealed that Joseph DeLucia used a Mossberg shotgun to kill his three siblings and niece in the rear area of the house.
“He just snapped, I think. He’s one of four siblings…they were going to sell the house and he’s lived there his whole life. He really needed support,” neighbor Wendy Paisner added.
