NC woman sticks tongue out in mugshot after allegedly killing mother

A North Carolina woman was arrested this week after she allegedly killed her mother inside their shared Black Mountain home, authorities said.

Danya Kathryn Dewey, 40, stuck her tongue out in her booking photograph after her Thursday arrest.

Dewey is accused of killing her mother, 63-year-old Lori Pallinger, hours earlier.

  • “Danya may be driving a silver 2015 Subaru Outback with North Carolina license plate number KDS-3461,” authorities said during the manhunt.

    In an update, law enforcement announced that Dewey’s vehicle was located by Asheville Police. She was arrested after a brief standoff.

    Dewey allegedly “unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did of malice aforethought kill and murder” her mother.

    Few details were provided about the slaying. The suspect is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Facility on first-degree murder.
