Idaho man admits to shooting girlfriend dead in front of child during argument

An Idaho man has allegedly confessed to shooting his girlfriend dead during an argument Thursday night.

Fabian Hernandez, 32, allegedly told cops “I’m the one you’re looking for” after shooting Ariana Ramos Chavez, 35, to death at their Rexburg home.

Hernandez reportedly called 911 after Ramos’ child arrived home and found him “with a gun in his hand standing by (Ramos Chavez’s) body.”

  • The child asked why he killed their mom, and Hernandez “began apologizing and dropped the gun near” the victim.

    The suspect told detectives he “blacked out” when Chavez told him to “get his drugs and get out of her home” and accused him of infidelity.

    He admitted to spending $300 to $500 per week on methamphetamines and buying the gun used in the crime through a Facebook group.
