A deceased newborn was found in a ditch Tuesday afternoon, the second in just a week, authorities said.
Law care crews found the deceased baby lying on a blanket outside a concrete plant in North Houston, Sheriff’s Major John Nanny said.
While he declined to provide further details about the death, Nanny reminded Houstonians of “the Infant Safe Haven Law that allows the mother or the parent to drop a child off at an EMS, fire department, a hospital or anything like that confidentially to take care of the child.”
Last week, another newborn was found dead in the back of a garbage truck in northwest Harris County.
The Sheriff’s Office said the baby’s mother claimed finding him unresponsive after passing out from abdominal pain.
