A New York model allegedly admitted to being high on "party-drug" before causing a crash that killed two people and wounded two others last week.
The crash occurred at 6:45 a.m. on August 10 when a speeding Maecee Marie Lathers in a Mercedes-Benz ran a red light at North Eighth Street in Miami and crashed into a black Range Rover triggering a chain-reaction collision that killed two people in a Suzuki sedan.
When cops responded to the scene, Lathers told them she was under the influence of drugs.
“She advised she was under the influence of ‘2c’, a known party drug, and that she was from the future and had a crystal ball,” Florida 11th Circuit Court Judge Mindy S. Glazer read from the police report.
The 24-year-old faces charges of driving without a license and leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death or serious injuries.
“She’s an absolute danger to the community based on killing or driving when she shouldn’t have been in a car,” the judge added.
“And if it wasn’t for the citizens or witnesses nearby who stopped her, she would have completely fled.”
