Indiana man attacks wife, kills baby son and hides body in sealed detergent bucket

An Indiana baby was found dead inside a sealed detergent bucket a day after his father attacked his mother with a wire at their Lafayette apartment.

Eliasard Moneus was arrested in Indianapolis after he allegedly assaulted his wife with a wire and kidnapped their 3-month-old son, Jacob.

The injured woman showed up at a hospital with s fractured skull and told police her husband took Jacob before attacking her and she had no idea where he was.

Police issued a Silver Alert for baby Jacob on Saturday and searched his parents’ apartment twice before locating his body in an orange bucket of laundry detergent with a snap-sealed lid on Sunday.

  • “When the officers were initially inside the apartment checking out the scene, baby was nowhere to be found,” Police Sgt, Shawn Verma said.

    “He was concealed in an area [of the apartment] that an officer would never think to look.”

    Eliasard Moneus admitted to attacking his wife, allegedly hoping she died from her injuries, and said his infant son was okay.

    The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office said the baby died from asphyxia and deemed the death a homicide.
