Investigation ongoing after ‘full-term’ infant found at SD recycling plant

A full-term infant was found at a South Dakota recycling plant on Tuesday triggering an investigation.

Sioux Falls authorities said that the infant’s body was found by employees at Millennium Recycling facility at around 6:40 a.m.

“We’ve never had an infant found at a recycling center before,” police said.

  • It remains unclear how long the baby was at the plant or its cause and manner of death but public information officer Sam Clemens said the infant was a baby boy.

    “Due to the sensitive nature of the incident and the ongoing investigation, Millennium Recycling is referring all media inquiries to local authorities,” the plant said in a statement.

    “We are providing full support to our staff and appreciate the community’s understanding.”

    “There will be no further comments at this time.”
