Houston news, Texas news.

A teenage Texas mother was arrested after she allegedly admitted to tossing her newborn son in a dumpster over fears her boyfriend would break up with her.

Everilda Cux-Ajtzalam, 18, allegedly told detectives that she gave birth on the ground behind the food truck where she worked on July 21.

She then placed the newborn in a garbage bag and left him in a dumpster before a passerby heard cries and called 911.

“(Defendant) put the child, placenta, and umbilical cord into a trash bag, took the trash bag to a dumpster, and left the child in the dumpster tied inside the trash bag,” the magistrate judge said.

Police said the “event” was caught on surveillance footage and Cux-Ajtzalam was quickly identified as the suspect.

“It was pure luck that the child was found and received care.” Harris County District Court Judge Veronica M. Nelson said.

“Given the fact that it’s the middle of summer in Houston, Texas, and the temperature at the time noting the danger to the child; under those circumstances, I’m going to set the bail in this case at $90,000.”
