A Baltimore city worker’s cause of death was ruled as hyperthermia after he collapsed and died while working last Friday.
Ronald Silver II collapsed from overheating while working in the Barclay neighborhood of northeast Baltimore, authorities said.
He was rushed to a local hospital where he died shortly later.
A day before the worker’s passing, the Baltimore City Health Department issued a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert for residents as temperatures reached 99 degrees.
“Our hearts are first and foremost with him, his family and loved ones, and his DPW colleagues as we grappled with this loss,” Mayor Brandon Scott and Department of Public Works Director Khalil Zaied said in a joint statement.
