Authorities in Oklahoma have charged a couple with murder after they brought a deceased child to the hospital Friday afternoon.
Anthony Yonko, 38, and Lisa Mitchell, 30, were carrying the lifeless body of their 7-year-old in a blanket when they showed up at Saint Anthony’s Midwest Hospital.
Hospital staff determined the child weighed only 25 pounds and suffered internal and external injuries at the time of her death.
Yonko kept changing stories during questioning at first claiming the child did not wake up in the morning and then asserting his daughter lost 25 pounds in less than a week.
Mitchell allegedly told detectives the girl only suffered from flu before dying suddenly Friday morning.
Mitchell and Yonko were charged with murder in connection to their daughter’s death.
