A north Alabama woman was arrested Friday in connection to the accidental death of an 8-year-old last year.
Kimberly Boykin has been charged with criminally negligent homicide and booked into the Franklin County jail.
Boykin is accused of “recklessly leaving a loaded firearm where a child could reach it” leading to the deadly shooting of an 8-year-old in Mach 2023.

Sheriff Shannon Oliver said Boykin left the gun at her Phil Campbell home before a 4-year-old boy found it and fired the fatal shot.
An older sibling called the police and the 8-year-old was transported to a hospital where he died.
Boykin’s relationship with the children remains unclear.
