3 prisoners dead; 9 injures in altercation at rural Nevada jail

At least three inmates died and nine others were injured in an altercation at a maximum-security prison in eastern Nevada jail on Tuesday, officials announced.

The Nevada Department of Corrections did not provide further details about the deadly incident that occurred in the rural mining city of Ely.

The prison remained on lockdown for hours as authorities investigated the violence.
