Orlando news, Florida news.

A Florida mother was arrested this week on child abuse charges after she allegedly left her baby trapped inside a car she rolled into a ditch while driving drunk.

Josefina Lopez, 21, managed to get out of the wrecked car but told a witness not to call 911 after she crashed into a ditch on Thursday.

“(The witness) advised that she was able to observe Josefina exit the vehicle through the driver’s door with the door slamming behind her,” the affidavit read.

“(She) witnessed Josefina immediately stated, ‘Don’t call 911, don’t call 911, help me get (the child) he’s in the car.”

Lopez was standing on the sidewalk not trying to help the child. She reportedly smelled alcohol and her eyes were “glassy and bloodshot.”

“Josefina advised that she was en route to the store when she missed a turn on her directions to her phone and attempted to U-turn on Hancock Road.”

The woman claimed she was homeless and refused to provide a current phone number or undergo sobriety tests.

Lopez’s child was handed over to a family friend.
