Authorities in Baltimore, Maryland arrested a 28-year-old man in connection to last week’s fatal shooting of a 12-year-old girl.
Investigators believe Omar Passmore found Breaunna Cormley alone inside a home when he fatally shot her on Friday.
Passmore and the victim’s mother have a child, police said. His motive for the killing is unknown.
“I can tell you it wasn’t accidental. It was not accidental. It was done on purpose,” Police Commissioner Richard Worley said.
Charging documents indicate Passmore gunned down the girl “for unknown reasons” and that “yelling” was reportedly heard before the shooting.
Passmore sat outside the home for a while before taking off on foot. He was arrested on Sunday.
“This young lady had a whole life ahead of her, but a coward took her life,” said Mayor Brandon Scott.
“It’s a kid. That’s all that matters. You’re talking about a 12-year-old girl.”
