Catawba County news, North Carolina news.

A North Carolina mother has been charged with murder after she allegedly admitted to killing her infant daughter last week.

Catawba County deputies found Megan Sattizahn disoriented on July 12 after receiving reports of a suspicious person in the area.

The deputies took Sattizahn to her home where they found a slain 9-month-old girl.

The woman admitted to killing the baby, her daughter, calling the crime a “mercy killing.”

While the cause of death for Sattizahn’s daughter remains undetermined, investigators believe that foul play is suspected in the death.

In 2017, Sattizahn vanished with another child, an 8-year-old, after picking her up from school.

The pair remained unaccounted for until they were eventually located in Missouri.

Though both were found to be unharmed, the incident triggered concerns about Sattizahn’s mental health condition.
