Newbern news, Alabama news.

A missing Alabama woman has been charged in connection to the disappearance and death of a 23-year-old man, authorities said.

Christian Moore vanished Thursday morning from his Newbern home, police said.

His burned-out 1999 Chevrolet Silverado was located later that day off a Dallas County road.

The truck was initially towed to a local wrecker before deputies realized that it could contain evidence about Moore’s disappearance.

On Sunday, Moore’s remains were found. Police arrested 24-year-old Aravis Arlexus Thomas on charges of murder, corpse abuse, tampering with physical evidence, and criminal mischief.

Detectives believe Thomas shot Moore to death inside a Valley Grande home before placing his body and other evidence in the passenger’s seat of the vehicle and lit it on fire.

A motive remains unclear as the investigation proceeds.
