A beloved South Carolina grandmother died a horrific death Friday when an aggressive pit bull yanked her off her bicycle and mauled her to death.
Karen Nelson, 71, was riding home when the brutal mauling incident occurred. She suffered fatal wounds including a hole in the neck.
Residents of the area said the pit bull was known for causing trouble, chasing and attacking people in front of its helpless owner.
The owner has reportedly agreed to euthanize the beast following the deadly attack.
Nelson’s son-in-law remembered her as “a loving mother, grandmother” and “an incredibly talented and beloved music teacher.”
“Karen was incredibly involved in the church here in Florence, with her different groups with pickleball and cycling. Had a huge group of friends,” he said.
