Verizon employee dies from electrocution in Maryland

A Verizon employee was found dead after he contacted power lines while working on Tuesday.

The Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service said they received a report of a person harmed at a worksite along Ashton Road.

First responders found a Verizon truck with the injured man in the truck’s bucket, in the air.

  • Power lines were turned off to allow crews to reach and help the operator who was still in the bucket.

    The victim was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as 39-year-old Osmar Daniel Chavarria.

    “His devotion to his family was evident in every moment spent together.”
