Authorities in San Antonio, Texas have charged a woman with three counts of child endangerment after she allegedly left her three young children unattended in a hot car while she went shopping at a mall.
Angela Garza-Amador’s arrest came after another woman noticed that her three children were profusely sweating inside a hot car outside the mall on June 28.
The children, ages 4 and 2 years old, and a 1-month-old infant were reportedly inside the locked car for nearly an hour.
“The boy, he was really sweating profusely, and you know, was crying,” the woman who alerted police at around 2 p.m. recalled.
“It seemed he was gasping for air to me, like they were already on that verge.”
Police said temperatures reached 97 degrees at the time of the incident.
With the help of bystanders, the woman removed the children from the car before Graza-Amador finally showed up at the scene.
“The mother of the children was at the scene and stated she went inside a store and did not realize how long she was gone,” police said.
