Girl, 4, dies after being left in hot pickup in Texas

A 4-year-old Houston girl died Wednesday after she was left inside a hot pickup truck for an extended amount of time.

The incident occurred outside an apartment complex on Hollister Road where two women stepped out of the truck with other children and got inside the building, leaving the girl in the parked truck.

  • When the women finally realized that the girl was missing, they came outside and found her unresponsive in the vehicle.

    The victim died at an area hospital. Investigators are interviewing witnesses and examining surveillance footage from the scene.

    “In this type of weather, it doesn’t take a few minutes to cause very serious illness or death for someone that’s left in a car,” said HPD Lt. Larry Crowson.
