NC mom charged in death of 8-year-old daughter left in hot car while she was at work

Authorities in Charlotte, North Carolina have charged a mother after her 8-year-old daughter died in a hot car this week.

Ashlee Stallings, 36, called police to the parking lot of a NAPA Auto Parts on Wednesday after finding her daughter unresponsive in the car.

The woman admitted to leaving the girl in the parked vehicle for hours while she worked at a nearby Amazon distribution center.

    The victim couldn’t be revived and she was declared dead at the scene. Her mother now faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and child abuse causing serious injury.

    Wednesday’s death is the fifth of an American child in a hot car this year.
