Fla. man charged after girl, 6, dies from extreme heat after being left in hot car for hours

A Florida man was arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child over the May death of his girlfriend’s daughter.

Markise L. Outing brought the 6-year-old girl to Southern Manatee Fire Department Station in Bradenton on May 20.

The girl was in cardiac arrest and not breathing with a body core temperature of 107.2 degrees. She died later in the evening.

  • When asked how the girl’s body reached that temperature, Outing allegedly replied she had been playing in a park.

    GPS data later showed the girl had actually been locked inside Outing’s car in the parking lot outside his workplace.

    The man picked up the victim from school at around 2:45 p.m. and left her inside the hot car for several hours with the windows rolled up.

    The weeks-long investigation led to the arrest of Outing who was booked into the Manatee County Jail.
