A suspect is hospitalized after allegedly opening fire at a Detroit block party killing two people and wounding 17, authorities said.
Gunfire erupted at a block party in the area of Reno Street and Rossini Drive on Detroit’s east side at 2:25 a.m. Sunday.
Officers found two dozen victims with gunshot wounds; a 20-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene while a 21-year-old man died from his injuries at the hospital.
The injured ranged in age from 17 to 28 years old, police said. A 17-year-old girl was listed in critical condition while 13 others were listed in serious condition.
Authorities said the 22-year-old suspect suffered a gunshot wound to the left leg and is hospitalized in stable condition.
