3 killed, 8 wounded when truck plows into 4th of July revelers at ‘high rate speed’

Authorities in New York are investigating after a truck plowed into a group celebrating the Fourth of July killing three, and hurting eight.

Police said the assailant drove a Ford F-150 down a street “at a high rate of speed” just before 9 p.m. Thursday, went through an intersection, a stop sign, and into Corlears Hook Park where the group gathered.

NYCFD Assistant Chief Michael Meyers said that when first responders arrived at the scene, they found four people underneath the pickup truck.

    “We had a tragic incident that took place here,” NYC Mayor Eric Adams said.

    “A driver drove into a crowd of people who were actually just celebrating like so many New Yorkers and Americans are doing right now.”

    Alcohol use is believed to be involved in the crash.
