Authorities in Tampa, Florida said a mother accused of killing her 4-year-old son last week had allegedly used makeup to cover the victim’s bruises.
Arayiah Hudson, 36, claimed the 4-year-old choked on potato chips and water when questioned about the child’s Saturday death.
An autopsy showed the victim died from blunt force injuries to his head and torso.
He also had a swollen brain, a lacerated liver, and other injuries including bruises, and contusions on his intestines.
An older child of the suspect told detectives she would often beat the victim with a shoe.
The juvenile also stated that on the day of his death, Hudson kicked the victim in the stomach and slammed his head into a wall making him lose consciousness.
Hudson has been charged with first-degree murder while engaged in child abuse.
