3 men seriously hurt in massive RV explosion in Massachusetts

Two men were seriously hurt and a third had been engulfed in flames after a massive RV explosion Tuesday, authorities in Massachusetts said.

The blast occurred at an RV on Walker Road in the city of Peabody in Essex County Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters arrived at the scene after receiving multiple reports of the explosion to find the RV fully engulfed in flames.

  • The three victims were rushed to hospitals in Boston and Burlington to receive treatment for severe burns; they were described as men in their 20s, 40s, and 70s.

    Officials said the cause of the explosion remains unclear; early information indicates the three men were working on an RV.

    “We heard a big explosion,” a neighbor recalled. “I looked out the window and saw tons of smoke going up into the sky.”

    “You could see the flames over the house across the street from me, and I ran out and down the street and saw the RV on fire.”
