Kennett Township news, Pennsylvania news.

A Pennsylvania man left in charge of a 21-month-old boy has allegedly killed him with a brutal punch this week, authorities said.

Officers responded to a Kennett Township home at around 11 p.m. Monday over reports of an unresponsive child.

The baby was foaming from the mouth and nose and had no pulse when his mother returned from work.

The mother had left the victim with her 30-year-old boyfriend Enrique Lopez Gomez while she was at work.

Gomez allegedly got frustrated with the child’s crying while he changed his diaper and punched him in the stomach.

“Mr. Gomez struck that child in the abdomen at least once, causing significant injuries to that child, and did not get medical care,” said Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe.

“This defendant brutally injured a toddler under his care, failed to get the child medical care, and caused his death,”

“It’s difficult to fathom how someone could do this.”

Gomez has been charged with one count of third-degree murder, one count of involuntary manslaughter, and other related counts.
