Authorities in Alexandria, Virginia said that two people including a suspect were fatally shot at a packed gym Saturday evening.
Officers responded to OneLife Fitness in southwest Alexandria at around 4 p.m. over reports of a shooting.
The alleged gunman and a male victim were found suffering critical gunshot wounds at the scene.
Both men died from their injuries at an area hospital. It remains unclear how the gunman was shot.
Around 60 people were at the gym and health club at the time of the shooting.
The terrified patrons ran for their lives through front and back exits upon hearing gunshots.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred on Saturday at our Alexandria location,” the club said in a statement.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the people involved.”
