A Minnesota woman was arrested early Saturday when a deceased body was found inside her vehicle following a single-car crash, authorities said.
Olmstead County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the eastbound lane of Interstate 90 near the Highway 42 Exit at around 7 a.m. Saturday.
Margot Lewis, 32, was found injured at the scene with a passerby tending to her.
“The driver of the vehicle, identified as Margot Lewis, a 32-year-old female of an unknown residence, was out of the vehicle and being tended to by a passerby,” police said.
“In checking to see if anyone else was in the vehicle, a deceased individual, a 35-year-old female, was located in the back seat,”
“The condition of the deceased was suspicious, and it was immediately apparent that the death was not a result of the motor vehicle accident.”
Lewis was taken to the hospital where she received treatment for her injuries before her arrest for interference with a dead body, officials said.
The victim’s identity was being withheld pending next-of-kin’s notification.
