Three Alabama men died Friday night after their visit to Florida’s Gulf Coast turned into a tragedy, authorities said.
The young victim visiting the Sunshine State from Alabama went out swimming immediately upon arriving at Panama City Beach Friday afternoon.
Witnesses called police at around 8 p.m. to report that the three men were in distress in the water.
All three victims were located by 10:30 p.m. and declared dead at an area hospital. Their identities had not been disclosed.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with their families,” Florida Sheriff Tommy Ford said.
“I want to thank Bay County Emergency Services, the FWC, and the Coast Guard for their help in the rescue efforts.”
