Officers in Fort Myers, Florida gunned down a murder suspect after he refused to surrender and tried to flee through a window while carrying his victim’s torso.
The suspect’s wife called 911 while hiding with her two children in a neighbor’s carport at around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
She reportedly told the dispatchers that her husband, Willy Lumaine, was “actively killing their roommate” at a Grand Avenue home.
Officers spotted a blood trail through the home’s open door, set up a perimeter around the building, and issued commands to Lumaine to surrender.
Lumaine headed to a back window carrying a large knife and “what appeared to be a dismembered body part” and tried to climb out toward the officers.
The cops fired shots at Lumaine who died from the injuries; they then found his victim’s head outside the building, near a garbage can.
The victim was reportedly an elderly, blind man. Lumaine’s wife said he had been angry for two days before the slaying.
