Convicted felon opens fire inside popular Atlanta food court wounding 3

Three people were shot Tuesday afternoon when a convicted felon opened fire inside the Peachtree Center in Atlanta following an argument, police said.

Officers responded to the popular food court shortly after 2:15 p.m. and located three victims and the 34-year-old suspect.

Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum commended an off-duty officer working a second job at the center for shooting and neutralizing the suspect.

    Schierbaum noted that the gunman had served jail time for an armed robbery and had “eleven previous arrest cycles.”

    “This is an individual that should never have been possessing a gun and an individual that should never have placed this community in harm,” the police chief added.
