3 killed; 2 wounded in shooting at Sioux Falls home: ‘They were really great people’

A suspect is in custody after a deadly shooting at a Sioux Falls home that left three dead and two wounded early Saturday morning.

Police were called out to a home in the area of South Drexel Drive and West 58th Street over a disturbance at around 2:45 a.m.

Once at the scene, they discovered three deceased adults and two others wounded all suffering from gunshot wounds.

A suspect was found at the scene and taken into custody. Police reassured neighbors that there was no further danger to the community.

  • Next-door neighbors said that the residents were “really great people” who had spent much of the night sitting out in their backyard, having a good time.

    “She’s a wonderful gal, with a wonderful man,” Angela Winstead said of her neighbor presumed among the victims.

    “We’ve had absolutely zero issues. She’s the one neighbor we clicked with.”

    Her husband, Joe Winstead, added: “What we knew of them is they were really great people.”
