A 19-year-old New York man has been arrested and a second suspect is being sought over the deadly shooting of a 16-year-old high school student last week.
Henry Thomas has been charged with murder in the death of Makhi Brown who was shot and killed after he broke up a fight between two groups of girls at Broome Street Charter High School.
Police said the suspects, who were “obviously not part” of the fighting groups, shot Brown to the head and fled on a Citi Bike.
“That’s just who he is. He’s a loyal person. That’s just something that was instilled in him,” Brown’s father said.
The grieving family remembered Brown as a brilliant student who liked basketball and wanted to play in college.
“Watching him from a baby, changing his Pampers as he grew to be a gentleman, loved school, loved sports,” his aunt added.
