A North Carolina woman died Wednesday night when a rock was thrown through her windshield, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.
23-year-old Brittany Ferguson was struck by the rock at around 8:40 p.m. and drove off road before crashing into a nearby house.
The victim died at the scene. Investigators determined that she was fatally struck by a rock.

Abby Rumfelt, the owner of the home Ferguson crashed into, expressed her condolences to the woman’s family.
“At such a young age for her to pay that price with her life. It’s just sad. It sure did hit close to home,” she said.
Two suspects are being sought in connection to the incident after witnesses reported seeing a suspicious white Chevrolet S-10 single-cab truck in the area.
