Manhunt underway for hit-and-run boater who fatally struck teen girl off south Florida beach

Authorities in Miami are looking for a boater accused of fleeing the scene of a crash that claimed the life of a teen girl over the weekend.

Ella Adler, 15, was skiing near Kay Biscayne south of Miami Saturday afternoon when she fell into the water and was hit by the boater who then sped away.

Witnesses described the boat involved in the fatal crash as a center console with a light blue hull, blue bottom paint, and several white outboard engines.

    Funeral services for Adler were held at Temple Beth Sholom in Miami Beach where mourners fondly remembered the Ransom Everglades School freshman and a member of the Miami City Ballet.

    “We are heartbroken,” the Coconut Grove school said in a Facebook post.

    “Ella Adler shined in our classrooms and on our stages, and she embodied the mission of Ransom Everglades School. We wish peace and comfort to her family.”
