A 14-year-old teen was fatally shot at an Augusta apartment complex Tuesday, marking the second fatal shooting involving a child in the area within four days.
Richmond County Sheriff’s deputies rushed to the shooting scene at Cedarwood Apartments at 527 West Richmond Hill Road at around 7:50 p.m. Tuesday.
They located a 14-year-old boy who was shot at least once. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Anthony Harrison, a Murphey Middle School student who played both football and basketball.
“Such a great kid on and off the field,” a coach of Harrison said.
The deadly shooting came just four days after 14-year-old Markayla Aiyonna Roberts was fatally struck by a stray bullet while sleeping in her home off Bayshore Drive in Fairfax, police said.
