A Georgia father is grieving the loss of his 16-year-old son who was senselessly killed Saturday after attending his prom.
16-year-old Daryus Bryant was found fatally shot inside a car at the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Crystal Drive in Columbus early Sunday morning.
Another student at Manchester High School was also found shot in a separate car; police said the two young men were struck when a third vehicle passed by their cars and the occupants started firing shots.
Bryant was days shy of turning 17, his father said adding that he was a well-liked kid who “excelled both in athletics and academics.”
“He didn’t party. He didn’t go out much. Actually, he wasn’t even planning on going to the prom. That was a last-decision that he decided to go,” Cartarsman Bryant said.
“I don’t know about the perpetrators but the victim in this case definitely is not in a street gang nor is he affiliated with any of that.”
