Police in Boise said that a deceased teen was found dead inside a filthy home where seven other children lived in “deplorable conditions.”
Officers were called to the home at around 8 a.m. Thursday by a parent who had discovered their teen son deceased.
While the Ada County Coroner’s Office works to determine the teen’s cause and manner of death.
Special Victims Unit Lt. Josiah Ransom said that the smell at the home gave officers nausea describing “deplorable, unsafe, and some of the worst” living conditions he has never witnessed in his career.
“It is always troubling when a young person dies and our officers and detectives are working diligently to determine what factors may have contributed to this situation and what, if anything, could have been done to prevent it,” Police Chief Ron Winegar said.
No charges have been filed in the case so far. Police said “all those affiliated” were cooperating with the investigation.
