A South Carolina mother reported missing in December was found dead in a wooded area of Aiken County on Thursday.
The Sheriff’s Office did not disclose what led investigators to the spot where the remains of Jamilla “Millie” Smith were located after six months of disappearance.
On December 2, Smith called 911 sounding out of breath telling the dispatcher her ex-boyfriend broke into her home and was chasing her down the street.
The dispatcher could hear a car revving and Smith screaming as a male voice asked her to get into the car, something she insistently refused.
The woman’s ex-boyfriend, Daniel Gabriel Harmon, has since been arrested and charged with murder after blood was discovered in the trunk of a black Dodge Charger he was renting at the time of the incident.
Bryan Alexander Hampton Jr., 35, surrendered to police in April on a charge of accessory after the fact to murder in connection to the case.
Last week, 46-year-old Clyde Hendley II, was also arrested on the same charge.
