An Everett, Washington mother was charged Friday over the savage stabbing of her 4-year-old son late last month.
Janet Gracia, 27, faces charges of first-degree murder over the slaying of Ariel Garcia on March 27.
The boy died after sustaining 41 “sharp force wounds,” autopsy showed. His cause of death was determined as “homicidal violence.”
Prosecutors said at Garcia’s Monday arraignment that the number of the wounds showed how “prolonged” the attack against the child was.
Garcia’s roommate called 911 on the day of the murder after discovering bloodstains in the apartment triggering an endangered missing person alert for little Ariel.
After an intensive search involving around 100 officers from multiple agencies, Ariel’s body was located near Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
